Planting Instruction

1. Dig hole twice the diameter of teh root-ball and deep enough to place the plant at orginal growing depth.

Amend the soil from the hole with compost and peat moss so teh resulting mix will contain approximately 1/3 of each material. Wet thoroughly.

3.Turn the pot on the side an tap on it lightly until the plant slops out. Baled the burlapped plants should be left in the burlap.

4. Using a tool or knife, score vertically down the root-ball 4 or 5 times about 1" deep. Loosen and rough up circling, Matted roots.

5. Set plant in the hole with backfill soil mix, pressing or tamping lightly to hold plant firmly in place; making sure the top of the root-ball is even with or slightly above surrounding soil level when planting is complete.

6. Water root-ball and surrounding soil thoroughly to settle soil and remove air pockets. For trees or specimen plants, form a berm arund the hole using the remaining native soil to aid in watering.

7. Mulch 2" deep with bark or staw materials.

8. Water frequently for the firest 4-6 weeks. Adding a root stimulator to the water may reduce the rooting time and shock.

9. Fertilize with a slow release fertilizer after 4 weeks.
